Youth soccer began in the late 1960s and the Soccer for American Youth (SAY) program led the way in promotion and development of the game for both boys and girls in the Miami Valley. In recent years competitive leagues and traveling teams through organizations like Centerville United Soccer Association (CUSA) have expanded the soccer skills of both sexes. Several teams from the area have won regional and national honors.
High school soccer began as the youth leagues produced enough players to staff school teams. The area has produced many outstanding boys' and girls' teams through the years, including district and state champions. Among these have been Northmont, Carroll, Centerville, Tipp City, and Chaminade-Julienne among others.
This was the program cover for the youth tournament hosted by CUSA in 2004.
