              Born - December 11, 1911, Venice, Ohio.

              Died - October 1, 1984, Oxford, Ohio.

              Taught school in West Manchester, Ohio.                                              

              Struck out in his only MLB at bat.

              Lived in Darrtown, Ohio.

              Manager of the Dodgers - 1954-1976.

              Elected to the Hall of Fame by Committee on Baseball Veterans in 1983.

 

Raymond Brown

              Born - February 23, 1908, Alger, Ohio.

              Died - February 8, 1965, Dayton, Ohio.

              Played for the Dayton Marcos in 1930.

              Played for the Homestead Grays from 1932-45.

              Elected to the Hall of Fame by Negro League historians in 2006.

 

Si Burick

              1982 J.G. Taylor Spink Award Winner.

 

Ritter Collett

              1991 J.G. Taylor Spink Award Winner.

 

Jesse Haines

              Born - July 22, 1893, Clayton, Ohio.

              Died - August 5, 1978, Dayton, Ohio.

              Elected to the Hall of Fame by Committee on Baseball Veterans in 1970.

              Won 210 games during his 18 year career.

Hal McCoy

              2003 J.G. Taylor Spink Award Winner.

 

Harry G. Salsinger

              Born - April 10, 1885, Springfield, Ohio.

              Died - November 27, 1958, Detroit, Michigan.

              1968 J.G. Taylor Spink Award Winner.

              Worked in Dayton and Cincinnati before joining the Detroit News at the age of 20.

 

 

Mike Schmidt

              Born - September 27, 1949, Dayton, Ohio.

              Elected to the Hall of Fame by Baseball Writers of America Associaion in 1995.                                  

              Signed by the great Phillies scout, Tony Lucadello, of Fostoria, Ohio.

              Got 444 of the 460 votes cast - 96.52%.
